Interview with the catcher of team USA, Jeffrey Nowaczyk.
What do you think decided this game?
We didn’t play the best defense we’ve had yet, but they moved the ball really well and put a lot of pressure on us throughout the game. It was a back and forth game the entire time. We swung the bats well, they swung the bats well and it all fell a little bit more their way than it did for us.
What could you have done better in this game?
I think you can always do better, we’re never satisfied in what we do. We can totally do a lot better than what we currently had today, and we will show that tomorrow.
Was this your first time in Prague or even Europe?
Yes, this is my first time in Prague, first time in Europe. The other night was pretty cool as I walked a lot and probably walked about 12 miles to see the entire city so it was well worth it. It was beautiful.
What do you like the most about Prague or the Czech Republic?
The architecture. I never thought I would like architecture, but I do. It’s really cool and also the people are really friendly and everyone has been very hospitable to all of us.
Why softball instead of baseball?
Actually I was a baseball guy my whole live until I got into it because I lived in Midland, Michigan where is a big softball community. So I was a baseball guy up until you hit a certain age and they don’t have baseball for you anymore.
What do you love the most about playing softball?
The friends you make all around the world is one of it. The other part is just competing. No matter how old I am, I will always want to compete and that’s what I love about it.
